An Open Letter To Congress

Dear Congress,

First of all, I believe that you are all human just like myself, and as such I believe that you are innately good. I know you've done lots of good things throughout your life and I love you for that. I believe you approach most things with good intentions, and I respect that. Now that that's out of the way though, I feel like you've gotten off track a bit. Many of you have been blinded by greed and corporate sweet talking, and this has caused you to fail at representing the people who you've sworn to represent.

You see, in your quest for financial gains you've enacted laws that allow American citizens to be poisoned, and you've allowed companies to rape the planet and piss on the shrinking middle class who got them to the position of power that they currently hold so dear. It's ironic to me that in their chase for quarterly profit records, they are eliminating their entire customer base by barely paying them a living wage.

Now, I'm sure many of you have a child or two in your life, whether that's your own child, a grandchild, or a niece or nephew. If not you'll just have to imagine that you do for a moment. Next time you're with that child in your life I want you to take a moment to imagine the world that you're leaving behind for them. If we go along on the path that you're currently setting for us that child that you claim to love will grow up addicted to Coca-Cola and McDonalds, dependent on Wal-Mart and they'll be topping it all off with a failed education. That child will then hate you because they will know that once upon a time you were in a position of power and you decided to side with short-sighted corporations instead of siding with the people who think they elected you into power. They will hate you for not making the changes you knew were right while you still had the chance. That is, if that child even has a future to look forward to, which is uncertain on the current path you're taking us down.

Again, I don't think you're doing this because you're bad people. I just don't think you've stopped to think about what you're doing to the planet we live on. The time to put our party differences aside is now, so we can start working together to build America back to the top. This is not a matter of Republican or Democrat, this is a matter of life or death for our future generations. Start working on saving our planet so our children and grandchildren can actually have a future to look forward to.

The time for peace is now.

The time for love is now.

Bring our troops back home, and let's rebuild America together.  This bi-partisan disaster we have is far from United, and we're quickly losing the right to call ourselves the "Home of the free." Let's unite for peace, love, and a better future.

Thank you for your time, I trust you'll make the right choice.

-Mike Anderson
